HUNTSVILLE – The North Wing’s grand opening at Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment is benefiting Madison businesses and artists.

The Dec. 20 celebration will run from noon to 6 p.m.

Lowe Mill, the Southeast’s largest privatelyowned visual arts center, will add 31 new studios, dozens of artists and gallery space. The three-story former textile mill has transformed to house more than 100 working artists, businesses, restaurants and live performance venues in 170,000 square feet.

MindGear Labs of Madison is opening an additional location.

Local artist Angela True has moved into Lowe Mill as a resident artist at Studio 2048 in the new North Wing. “I hoped Lowe Mill’s artist jury would accept my application for inclusion into the artist community, and they did,” True said.

“The energy there is just ‘pizzazz’ — out-of-this-world stimulating. I feel like I will grow as an artist,” True said. “I offer my own unique view of the world through my art to add to the energy, too.”

True called her primary style “abstract impressionism,” with a clear definition of subject matter but delivered in an abstract, other-worldly style. True’s designs are full of color, movement and bold, firm strokes.

In addition, True uses water and texture mediums. “I also like to work with India inks. They hit you, ‘Pow,’ when you walk into a room where they’re hanging,” she said.

Lowe Mill will be her second work site. True will continue lessons in her East Limestone studio to accommodate students in that locale.

“Lowe Mill offers me creative stimuli in the company of other artists. I want to tap into that buzz zone,” True said.

The opening is Lowe Mill’s “biggest event ever,” media director Dustin Timbrook said. “The story has been shared thousands of times on social media. Our goal is to give Huntsville an event that matches that excitement.”

Lowe Mill’s address is 2211 Seminole Drive. For more information, visit lowemill.net or Facebook/Lowe Mill. To contact True, call 256-233-3690, email to atrue@angelatrue.com or visit AngelaTrue.com.
