MADISON – Siddharth ‘Siddhu’ Srikakolapu, the 2015 valedictorian at Bob Jones High School, has received a $2,000 scholarship from Herff Jones.

Herff Jones’ “Believe in You Scholarship & Principal’s Award” celebrates academic achievement and leadership potential in college-bound youth across the United States and Canada with more than $125,000 in college scholarships.

Srikakolapu won at the state level.

“We relied on Siddhu’s leadership to set the tone for our large student body. He is mature, dedicated, enthusiastic and charismatic,” then Bob Jones principal Robby Parker said.

“Student leadership is closely tied to student achievement, and we are proud to recognize outstanding young people every year,” Herff Jones President John Newby said.

In November, school principals nominate one senior who demonstrates academic excellence, strong leadership skills, extracurricular involvement and community service. Nominees respond to the essay question, “Please explain how a person believing in you has had a positive impact on your success.”

Srikakolapu has enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in the Early Medical School Acceptance Program. He received the UAB Presidential and Engineering scholarships.

At Bob Jones, he accomplished a GPA of 5.17 (unweighted 4.0). On the ACT, he scored a near-perfect 35. Srikakolapu is a National Merit Finalist with Emerson Electric Company’s scholarship and an Advanced-Placement (AP) National Scholar.

An Eagle Scout, Srikakolapu was All-State Percussionist and Alabama Music Teacher’s Association’s state-level winner for piano. He received the Legacy Environmental Awareness scholarship.

Srikakolapu co-founded the Presidents’ Council; was president of Ambassadors, Social Studies National Honor Society and Technology Student Association; EnviroBowl captain; Student Government board member; and soccer co-captain.

He volunteers with AshaKiran, interned at HudsonAlpha Institute of Biotechnology and researched at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Siddhu’s parents are Krishna and Sudha Srikakolapu.

Founded almost 100 years ago, Herff Jones provides graduation products, class rings and yearbooks to schools. For more information, visit herffjones.com/biuscholarship.
