Moon Taxi to play Three Caves, benefit Land Trust

HUNTSVILLE – Nashville five-piece outift Moon Taxi is set to rock the Three Caves venue in Huntsville on Aug. 28 as part of the Concerts at Three Caves event organized by the Land Trust of North Alabama.
Three Caves, a former limestone quarry at the base of Monte Sano Mountain, is located roughly one mile from downtown Huntsville. Tickets are $35 for Land Trust members and $45 for non-members. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
Moon Taxi formed in Nashville in 2006, the same year Concerts at Three Caves began in Huntsville. The band has released two albums – Cabaret in 2012 and Mountains Beaches Cities in 2013 – and played over 1,000 shows.
The band also recently announced a third studio album, Daybreaker, that will be released this fall.
With a rabid fan base under their belts, they’ve become a festival favorite with recent performances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. Three band members have roots in and around Birmingham.
“The mission of the Land Trust is to preserve natural lands, including historic places, for the community to enjoy,” said Executive Director Marie Bostick in a press release. “A great way to encourage support is by opening one of the most unique features of our Nature Preserves – historic Three Caves.”
Food trucks such as I Love Bacon and Fire & Spice will be on hand, and local craft beer will be available for purchase.
Close-toed shoes are recommended due to gravel. Organizers request no small children, pets or lounge chairs.

Free parking is available at Huntsville Hospital’s lots at Lowell & Adams Streets. Shuttle service from the Hospital to the Caves begins at 5:30 p.m. Shuttles will run continuously.
