MADISON – Daniel Kasambira, who works as Executive Director of Hogan Family YMCA in Madison, has been named 2015 Community Servant of the Year.

Kasambira received the honor at the 2015 Small Business Awards dinner and ceremony, presented by Madison Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 10 at Insanity Complex.

Kasambira began his work with Hogan Family YMCA as executive director in January 2015. Previously, he served as executive director at YMCAs in New Jersey, Chicago and other Alabama cities.

In addition, he has worked for United Way and Alabama A&M University. Kasambira served as chairman of United Way of Madison County’s 2015 Pacesetter Campaign, which raised $1.1 million.

He has served on boards of directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Alabama as past president and for Huntsville Drumline. Kasambira is a member of Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville, treasurer of Madison Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County, Class 27.

Hogan Family YMCA was nominated as Health and Wellness Small Business of the Year. Good Samaritan Hospice received that award.

Progress Bank won the 2015 Small Business of the Year honors. The Startup Business of the Year winner was Madison Behavior Therapy.

Hogan Family YMCA’s address is 130 Park Square Lane in Madison. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
