MADISON – Guests can enjoy the next concert in the Music at Messiah series with a solo recital by vocalist Erin McDaniels.

Music at Messiah features concerts, primarily with classical music, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7740 U.S. 72 in Madison. All concerts are free and open to the public.

McDaniels’ concert will open at 4 p.m. on July 31. The program will offer a varied assortment of genres with classical pieces from Claude Debussy, Gustav Mahler, Kurt Weill and Jacques Offenbach to Broadway standards and ballads from Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.

A native of Madison, McDaniels graduated from Bob Jones High School. “This is a homecoming concert for Erin,” publicist John Shriver said.

Now a musician in Nashville, Tenn., she started working with the Nashville Opera company in 2014. McDaniels has appeared in four productions with the company. In April, she was the model for a modern opera, “Florencia en el Amazonas,” which will be performed across the United States.

In addition, she works as a church soloist and has performed cantatas and oratorios. “Classical music is not her only performing outlet. In 2013, Erin sang with the 1980’s pop group Berlin for a private function,” Shriver said.

Along with her work as a performer, McDaniel works at the prestigious Jan Williams School of Music as a private voice and piano coach.

The concert is free and open to the public. Following the concert, a reception with light refreshments will allow guests to meet McDaniels in a casual setting.

Acoustics in Messiah Lutheran’s sanctuary “have proven to be ideal for soloists, small chamber ensembles and choirs, revealing a detail in sound and technique that is special for both performers and listeners,” Shriver said.

Donations, sponsors and program advertisers are welcome for the Music at Messiah series.
