MADISON – The City of Madison is accepting nominations for the 2017 Madison Family of the Year.
Nominations will be open through Oct. 14. To nominate online, visit www.madisonal.gov/foty.
Family of the Year nominees must have lived in Madison for one full year. All direct family members must be U.S. citizens or legal aliens.
Elected city officials are not eligible, nor are families involved with the selection committee. Officials define ‘family’ as a single-parent household, a married couple, and/or a married couple with a child or children.
The family entity/couple must be legally married as recognized by Alabama law. A single-parent family must be a widow or widower, or legally divorced or legally separated as recognized by Alabama law. Nominees cannot be the subject of any criminal indictment or delinquent in compliance with any outstanding civil action.
The 2017 Family of the Year will be announced at the meeting of Madison City Council on Jan. 23, 2017.
