MADISON – Olivia Schweikart of Madison has been selected to represent the College of Agriculture at Auburn University.
Schweikart is one of the 10 students chosen for the 2016-2017 Ag Ambassadors. As the official student representatives of the College of Agriculture, Ag Ambassadors assist the college’s administration in student recruitment, alumni relations and community service efforts.
A sophomore at Auburn, Schweikart is majoring in animal sciences and pre-veterinary medicine. She is a Class of 2015 graduate from Bob Jones High School. Her parents are Kaley Schweikart and Bobbie Schweikart.
“The work our Ag Ambassadors do and the image they portray are vital to the college’s continued success,” Paul Patterson said. Patterson is Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station.
“Therefore, we take great care in the selection of these student leaders, and we are certainly proud of those who are new to the ambassador team this year,” Patterson said.
The origin of Auburn’s College of Agriculture can be traced to 1872 with the formation of the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical College as a land-grant college. Throughout these 145 years of service, the college has helped in the progress of Alabama’s agricultural economy while improving the nutrition, health and quality of life for all residents.
