MADISON – Officers with Madison Police Department are investigating an overnight shooting.

On Sunday, Feb. 6 at approximately midnight, Madison officers responded to the area of Palmer Road and Pension Row in the downtown area after a call about a shooting.

When police arrived, the victim reported being shot in the leg by a black male wearing a black hoodie.

The victim reported walking from a local motel on Madison Boulevard to a residence off Mill Road. The victim said the suspect approached him on foot near the intersection of Palmer Road and Pension Row and demanded his wallet.

The suspect then shot at the victim and struck him in the leg. The victim said the offender ran south.

The victim was transported to Huntsville Hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Madison police detectives have spoken to residents in the area. Detectives ask anyone in the area from Kyser Boulevard to Palmer Road who may have witnessed suspicious activity on the evening on Feb. 5 to notify the Madison Police Department by calling either 256-722-7190, which is available 24 hours each day, or 256-772-5614 during the day.
