Bravo treats Bob Jones seniors

MADISON – Bravo! Cucina Italiana in Bridge Street Town Centre treated about 25 seniors from Bob Jones High School to a graduation luncheon.

Several weeks ago, Merinda Davis, a paraprofessional at Bob Jones, met with Bravo manager Ken Tyrrell and asked him to consider hosting an end-of-year luncheon for seniors in the special education program.

“A light went off,” Tyrrell said. “I wanted to do this meal for them to have a special day. We welcome the students for a job well done at the end of their school year – a treat from Bravo.”

About 25 students and a few faculty members took the bus ride to Bridge Street on May 10 for the free meal. “We had their table setup and ready. The students were well mannered and pleasant to be around,” Tyrrell said.

Kaitlyn, one of the Bob Jones students, wrote a note to Tyrrell. “Let me start by thanking Mr. Tyrrell for setting up the free lunch at Bravo and making this all possible for us. As high school seniors, we don’t get to go on field trips and do these kinds of things all the time, so I’m especially appreciative of this chance to get out of school. The food was awesome.”

“We had bread, salad (that had bacon on it, of course), and we got to choose from a couple of different kinds of pasta. We even got cake and cupcakes from Publix (I think). I’m happy that, for once, I did not have to eat a ham sandwich for lunch,” Kaitlyn said.

“I would like to end this by saying thank you again to Mr. Tyrrell for setting up a free graduation lunch for us. It was nice to have a last hurrah before final exams and graduation,” Kaitlyn said.

Chandler also wanted to thank Tyrrell. “We do not get many opportunities to get out for a trip – much less a free lunch. The food there was fantastic! I was glad because it was better than school food. Again, I appreciate the opportunity to celebrate with my peers at such a nice restaurant like Bravo. It was a nice break before final exams.”

Anisa Iiciaga wrote, “A big thanks to Mr. Tyrrell. He rocked our graduation luncheon. We greatly appreciated it. The food was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the family style setup. We were able to sit with our teachers and had the time to reminisce on the good and bad times we had over the years at Bob Jones High School. It was a memorable moment to end our journey at Bob Jones.”

“The students were very happy and enjoyed the food, for sure. Some of them commented with thanks to us, and they gave me a thank-you card,” Tyrell said.

Inviting the Bob Jones students to the meal “was a way to give back to the community and thank the families that have supported Bravo for the last 2.5 years,” Tyrrell said.
