Road improvements, utility work underway
MADISON – Crews currently are repaving streets and working to make utility upgrades on several Madison roadways.
Utility work at the intersection of Eastview Drive and Slaughter Road started on June 14. City leaders urge drivers to exercise caution and observe directions that the road workers give to motorists. Estimated completion date is June 24.
A main access to downtown Madison, Martin Street will be closed between Wise Street and Cain Street from June 20 through July 3. Workers with Madison Utilities will install water improvements. Reed Construction will install improvements for storm drainage and the roadway.
While this section of Martin Street is closed, the best detour is to drive on Short Street, turn on Shorter Street, turn north on Garner Street and then drive east on Lanier Road.

City officials request that motorists consider using alternate routes. Drivers need to expect delays. “Please observe all work zones signs and use caution,” a city spokesperson said. “We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.”
