Mad AL’s opens, Nightmare on Skate Street set for Halloween

MADISON – Fun and fright is in full blast for Madison as Halloween approaches. A haunted house now is open, and a community-wide Halloween party will be staged on Oct. 31.

Insanity Complex at 100 Skate Park Drive in Madison is hosting both ghastly events.

Mad AL’s House of Horrors has returned and dares anyone to walk through the terror-ridden site without screaming like a banshee. “Mad AL’s House of Horrors located at Insanity Complex is North Alabama’s best haunted house,” Gayle Milam said. Milam works as Event and Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Madison.

“With more than 20 wicked scenes, this haunted house is sure to make you scream!” Milam said. Mad AL’s House of Horrors will be open Oct. 27 and 28 from 4 p.m. to the witches’ hour of midnight and on Halloween, Oct. 31 from 5 to 9 p.m.

In 2016, Mad AL’s horrific scenes included the Haunted Corn Maze (did you see “Children of the Corn”); an insane asylum; a haunted cemetery; a grisly butcher shop where Leatherface shops; a decrepit prison cell; and an eerie electrocution room. Watch out for evil clowns this year.

Admission to Mad AL’s is $5 per person. Individuals can listen to 104.3 WZYP to win tickets.

Sponsors for Mad AL’s House of Horrors are Regions, Insanity Complex and City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department.

Then on Halloween, Oct. 31, everyone in town can visit Madison’s Insane Nightmare on Skate Street. Trick-or-treating will be open for the youngsters from 5 to 8 p.m. Games and diabolical activities will be staged from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

At 7 p.m. on Halloween, the Insane Nightmare will have a costume contest. Anyone wanted to dress in costume must register for the contest.

Trick-or-treaters will receive free candy. Contests will open by 5 p.m. with “Guess the Number” contest, “Monster Mash Freeze Dance” and “Punk Chunk” contest, along with naming of the best decorated pumpkin.

Visitors can try to win games for prizes. Local residents will staff information booths. Haunted hayrides will set the Halloween mood.

Insanity Complex will offer all-day specials at the park from noon to 10 p.m., including Graveyard Golf, 18 holes for $3 and six-year-olds and younger free; Goblin Park for skateboarding at $5; The Bat Caves, $1; and Mad House Roller Rink, $10.

The nightmare’s sponsors are Madison Park and Recreation Department, Insanity Complex and Regions.
