Holman deployed to Turkey, United Kingdom

MADISON -After enlisting in July 1996, Joann Holman separated honorably from the U.S. Air Force in in July 2006 as a Staff Sergeant.

Holman reported to Lackland Air Force Base, Texas for basic training and Naval Air Station in Millington, Tenn. for technical school for NDI. Her first duty assignment was Hill AFB, Utah.

With Operation Northern Watch, Holman deployed to Incirlik AB, Turkey. She served TDY at Nellis AFB, Nev.; Barksdale AFB, La.; and Maxwell AFB, where she retrained to paralegal.

Her second duty assignment was Whiteman AFB, Mo., followed by TDY at Langley AFB, Va. and Scott AFB, Ill. Next, Holman was assigned to RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom.

TDY assignments followed at Bolling AFB, Washington D.C. and Maxwell AFB. At Tyndall AFB, Fla., Holman left the service.

Originally from Wolverine, Mich., she moved to Madison with husband Dennis in August 2009 for his job offer. Self-employed, Joann Holman now works as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Their children are Brian Kennedy, who is employed full time, and Robert Holman, a Liberty Middle School student.

Joann Holman earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from University of Phoenix; master’s degree in counseling, Faulkner University; and advanced graduate certificate in couples and family therapy, Capella University.

Over the years, she has volunteered with YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, American Legion, Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center and Downtown Rescue Mission. “Currently, I’m a member of CrossPointe Church. I volunteer primarily with my church’s youth and have gone on two mission trips to Romania,” she said.

Holman also is a member of professional organizations, Alabama Counseling Association and American Association of Christian Counselors.

In spare time, she enjoys reading, exercising, traveling, sewing and spending time with family and friends.
