New destination guide features everything fun about the Huntsville-Madison area

HUNTSVILLE – There is a new guide for anything fun in the Huntsville and Madison area. The Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) have created an all-new Destination Guide to illustrate what makes the Rocket City area a top travel destination.

The Destination Guide serves as the CVB’s main promotional piece, distributed at no cost to visitors through Alabama Welcome Centers, Huntsville/Madison County attractions and hotels, online, via mail requests, and inside the CVB’s own Visitor Center in downtown Huntsville and visitor information kiosk at the Huntsville International Airport.

The guide is created to be a comprehensive, primary resource for those traveling to Huntsville and Madison, including information on local attractions, restaurants, bars and breweries, arts and cultural offerings, historical points of interest, annual events, transportation, lodging, retail, new developments coming to the area, and more.

“The main function of our organization is to serve as a visitors’ go-to resource for all things Huntsville/Madison County,” said Judy Ryals, President/CEO of the CVB. “Whether they’re coming in for a vacation, convention, field trip, or part of an international tour group, we ensure that every step of their experience – from the moment they decide to visit Huntsville to the moment they’re in the car or plane heading back home – is a positive one, and the Destination Guide is one of the best tools that we use to do that.”

The Convention & Visitors Bureau worked with Alabama-based agency Compass Media to produce the guide. Compass Media also creates the Alabama Tourism Department’s state vacation guide, and many other visitor guides and collateral pieces for destination marketing organizations across the country.

The 48-page guide is formatted differently than past versions, providing more of an editorial look and incorporating new photography and branding for a fresh, modern appeal. Sample itineraries are provided for everyone from history buffs to young professionals, and “#iHeartHsv favorites” featured throughout the guide highlight personal recommendations from Rocket City locals. An astronaut icon gives “little-known facts” and insider tips to readers, and everything from the local time zone to seasonal weather is covered in a dedicated FAQ section.

“Our vision for the new destination guide was to create a piece that served dual purposes,” said Kristen Pepper, Marketing Manager for the CVB. “We wanted something that not only would provide information to visitors once they are in-market, we wanted the guide to inspire people to come here and really provide that ‘oh wow, I need to go there’ moment early in the trip planning process.”
