Rocket City Classic Basketball Tickets On Sale Now

HUNTSVILLE- Tickets to the 2019 Rocket City Classic are now on sale.

The fourth annual Rocket City Classic will again feature outstanding college basketball games. This year Alabama will face Belmont University and UAH will tangle with Spring Hill College in a doubleheader played in the Propst Arena at the Von Bran Center on Saturday, Dec. 21. Tip-off times for both games have yet to be determined.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster and at the box office of the Von Bran Center.

This year’s Rocket City Classic will feature new head coaches at both of the Alabama schools. Alabama will have first-year head coach Nate Oats on the sidelines while UAH will feature its new head Charger in John Shulman. Oats came to the Crimson Tide in March after the school parted ways with Avery Johnson after four seasons. In April, UAH saw Lennie Acuff take the head coaching job at Lipscomb after 22 years with the Chargers’ program including 20 winning seasons, 11 trips to the NCAA Div. II Tournament and a 437-214 record. The program went through an extensive search for a new coach and named Shulman on May 10.

“This will be a great day of basketball for Huntsville and we are excited that UAH will be a part of this exciting event,” said Shulman.

Oats added, “We knew coming in the Rocket City Classic was something we wanted to continue as part of our non-conference schedule. Not only is it exciting for our fans, but it is great for our program and the City of Huntsville.”

The Rocket City Classic is presented by Intrepid and hosted by Knight Eady, a Birmingham-based sports marketing and event management firm.

“The Rocket City Classic is quickly becoming a Huntsville tradition. Intrepid is proud to play a role in bringing the Rocket City Classic to our community, our employees and their families,” said Bill Best, Intrepid president and CEO.
