Madison Hospital celebrates Major Wooten’s win over COVID on his 104th birthday

A 104-year-old World War II veteran and Madison resident Major Lee Wooten received a great sendoff from Madison Hospital on Tuesday. He recently won his battle with COVID-19 in time to be home to celebrate his 104th birthday. Wooten, who is warmly known as “Pop Pop,” is described by his granddaughter as “their family’s treasure.”

Holly Wooten McDonald expressed her appreciation to the front-line healthcare workers at Madison Hospital.

So thankful for everyone at Madison Hospital for all they do for our community and keeping our loved ones alive and well!!! They saved him in the spring, my sister in August and now my Pop Pop again just in time for his 104th! This is truly a wonderful hospital and they gave him such a special send off today! Thank you is not enough!!!”
