With a never-give-up attitude, Allison Prince earns ‘Female Top Jet’ at James Clemens

MADISON – Superior athleticism, coupled with strong character traits, led to the “Female Top Jet” award for Allison Prince at James Clemens High School.

“Much criteria goes into this award,” Coach Molly Lund said. “For one, this is someone who gives 100 percent every single day. Someone who never gives up, even in time of adversity.”

“I look for someone who is willing and determined to better themselves, not just in the pool, in all aspects of life,” Lund said.

Lund also looks for attributes of a team player. “Allison cheered every single teammate. She was always up to date on everyone’s success and first to post in our group when someone did something amazing,” Lund said.

“Lastly, Allison helped teach others how to dive,” Lund said. “She led them in stretches and took over when the coach wasn’t there. She even videoed other divers and gave feedback to help them.”

“Allison certainly brings a positive energy and light to the team,” Lund said. All James Clemens divers qualified for state this year.

In the past year, Allison compiled impressive honors with the Jets Dive Team. At the dive team’s banquet on Feb. 4, she received her pin for lettering and advancing to state competition. Allison also emerged into Top Five records for diving scores.

Allison’s parents are Chad and Lindy Prince. Lindy said Allison’s records are “such a great accomplishment, but what was truly amazing was that Allison received the ‘Female Top Jet’ award. This is an award for kindness, leadership and being a great teammate at all times.”

Allison was surprised even about consideration as Female Top Jet. “I’m so beyond thankful! . . . I’m grateful for all the friendships, my parents for supporting me in my hopes, dreams . . . I love y’all so much!” Allison said. “And a huge thank-you to my coach. You taught me what it means to be true to who I am.”

Allison is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She wakes daily at 4:30 a.m. to attend Early Morning Seminary, a gospel study program for youth. Then, Allison swims from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. before school and occasionally at after-school practice.

In addition, she attends Young Women, her church’s youth activity program, and devotes time to set goals to round out her core values.

Allison was born in Upland, Calif., grew up in Texas and moved to Madison in 2017. She has one brother and two sisters.

Allison receives guidance in Deuteronomy 31: 6, 8: “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them. For the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, not forsake thee . . . “

Allison plans to attend Brigham Young University – Idaho this fall and major in nursing.

“No doubt, Allison will give it her all and then some,” Carolyn Ashcroft said. Ashcroft serves on the Madison Stake Communication Council. “Now here’s the final kicker about Allison. Are you ready? She does all of her dives with her eyes closed!”
