Newest Madison school board member will be added in June

MADISON – Cara Welsh is the newest member of the Madison Board of Education. She replaces Tim Holtcamp on Place 2 of the Madison City Schools Board of Education. Holtcamp served on the board since 2015 and served as President of the Board since 2020. His term expires in June. The Madison City County opened applications for Holtcamp’s seat in Feb. and conducted interviews at a work session in April.

“We did have three people that came and interviewed with us, and we’re very grateful that people step forward and want to serve on the school board and take care of our children,” commented council member Karen Denzine.

Council member Ranae Barltett extended her thanks to Holtcamp, “Congratulations, Cara on your appointment to the school board. I’d also like to commend Tim Holtcamp who has served two terms on the Board of Education, and so that’s his place that’s being replaced, not that anyone can replace you Tim, but thank you for your service and to everyone on the board of education who serve without pay, and your dedication is greatly appreciated by the council.”

Welsh will be officially sworn in at the June school board meeting.
