Lee Greenwood performs at Clift Farm’s Village Green
MADISON – To christen the Village Green at Clift Farm, Stephen Paul and Lee Greenwood, famous for his patriotic anthem, “God Bless the U.S.A.,” performed in an al fresco concert on Sept. 23.
The Village Green at 461 John Henry Way (next to Chuck’s Fish restaurant) opened with this free performance. Representatives of Breland Companies, the developer of Clift Farm, also attended the free event, according to Joey Ceci, President of Breland Companies.
“The Village Green at Clift Farm is designed to be a gathering place for the whole community. We are hosting a wide variety of events from concerts to yoga on the lawn to story times for kids,” Ceci said.
Stephen Paul was the opening act. Paul, an up-and-coming country music artist, is originally from Louisiana but now based in Nashville, Tenn.
Paul’s Cajun roots and classic country inspired his style. Combining a 1990’s country feel with a modern sound, Paul offers a refreshing voice to country music fans. His upcoming release, “I’ll Take The Blame,” reveals a more sultry side. Lee Greenwood’s music has become the heartbeat of American pride. He brought that spirit to Clift Farm for one unforgettable night,” Ceci said.
Greenwood won “Male Vocalist of the Year,” Academy of Country Music, 1983; two “Male Vocalist of the Year” awards, Country Music Association, 1983 and 1984; and a Grammy for “Top Male Vocal Performance,” 1985. CMA named “God Bless The U.S.A.” as its “Song of the Year” in 1985.
“We were honored to have Lee Greenwood sing for the opening of Village Green,” Ceci said. “Today and for generations to come, Clift Farm will continue to be a place where families choose to plant their roots, raise their children and celebrate being part of the Rocket City.”
