Burritt on the Mountain invites community to free “Love, Burritt Day” community event

HUNTSVILLE — Love is in the air at Burritt on the Mountain, and the community is invited to celebrate it together. Presented by FirstBank, Burritt will host Love, Burritt Day, a free community event, on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., welcoming guests for a day filled with history, creativity, music, food, and connection.

Throughout the day, visitors can step back in time as Burritt’s historic park comes alive with traditional craft demonstrations. Blacksmiths will hammer away at the forge, woodworkers will shape handcrafted pieces, and the aroma of open-hearth cooking will fill the air. Guests can also watch spinners and weavers demonstrate historic textile techniques on a variety of looms.

Hands-on activities invite visitors of all ages to roll up their sleeves and participate. Guests can try printmaking, dip their own candles, twist rope like a pioneer, or practice writing with nib pens and ink in the historic schoolhouse.

Music will fill the church throughout the day, and guests can cozy up with hot chocolate or a cocktail, available in both spirited and non-spirited options at the drink bar. Valentine-themed snack boxes will also be available for purchase.

From 1 to 3 p.m., Burritt will host a special HeArt in Nature Wellness Hike, offering a slower, more reflective experience on the mountain. Participants will explore the trails in search of heart-shaped finds and artistic inspiration hidden in nature, encouraging mindful movement and creativity. The hike concludes with a hands-on activity where guests will create a one-of-a-kind kudzu heart ornament, transforming an invasive vine into a symbol of care, renewal, and creativity.

Food lovers can enjoy lunch from Big Flavor Tenders and Wings, which will be on site from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the event.

“Love, Burritt Day is about opening our doors and bringing people together. Burritt exists to build community, enhance lives, and preserve history, and days like this create space for families, neighbors, and first-time visitors to feel welcomed and connected. We are grateful to FirstBank for making this day possible,” said Melanie Thornton, CEO.
