DEVCOM Director Dr. James Kirsch to appear at chamber’s ‘Business Over Business’ on Sept. 30
MADISON – Madison Chamber of Commerce will conduct its next “Business Over Breakfast” session on Sep. 30 with an address from a director on Redstone Arsenal.
Business Over Breakfast is the chamber’s quarterly series that spotlights a different industry during each session and keeps meaningful conversations moving in Madison’s business community. Each event focuses on leadership, planning and goal-setting, all in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes connecting feel natural.
“At our Business Over Breakfast meetings, you’ll hear from influential keynote speakers and community leaders who deliver insight on timely issues — from economic updates and business trends to personal stories that offer a look at life beyond the briefcase. It’s a chance to learn, network and walk away inspired,” Chamber President Michelle Epling said.
The session is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Jackson Center, 6001 Moquin Drive in Huntsville. “This quarter, we’re excited to welcome guest speaker Dr. James C. Kirsch, Director of DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center,” Epling said.

In July 2019, Kirsch was appointed to the Senior Executive Service. He serves as Director for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center. He leads a workforce of more than 11,000 engineers, scientists, researchers and support staff in delivering life-cycle engineering and advanced technologies, according to avmc.army.mil.
Under Kirsch’s direction, the center is responsible for delivering collaborative and innovative aviation and missile capabilities for responsive and cost-effective research, development and life-cycle engineering solutions. Many Department of Defense and federal agencies seek the center’s science, technology and engineering expertise.
At the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Kirsch completed all his post-secondary study. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electronics engineering. In 2004, he received a doctorate’s degree in optical science and engineering.
During his career, Kirsch has earned numerous honors: Superior Civilian Service Award; Defense Acquisition Workforce Achievement Award for Engineering; Engineering and Systems Integration Professional of the Year; Commander’s Award for Civilian Service; and Army Research, Development and Engineering Achievement Award (twice).
