Bob Jones volleyball lands in top 10 at Rocky Top Classic

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Bob Jones went undefeated in pool play and went on to finish in a tie for ninth place in the 64team Rocky Top Classic.

The Lady Patriots defeated Tennessee teams South Greene

2-0 (25-15, 25-10) and Collinwood 2-0 (25-19, 25-7) along with Georgia’s Morgan County

2-0 (25-15, 25-14) in pool action.

In bracket play, Bob Jones downed Philip Barbour (W.V.)

2-0 (25-16, 25-16), then lost its final match to West Jessamine (Ky.) 2-0 (25-16, 25-23).

Team stat leaders: Jessie Elitzer (2.1 KPS, 110 K), 22 Genie Brown (.239 HP, 40 BLK), Brooklyn Morgan (3.5 DPS, 178 D; 241 R, 25 SA), Zoe Robinson (251 A).*

JAMES CLEMENS

The Lady Jets defeated Wilson 2-0 (22-25, 25-21, 15-10) in the final of the Muscle Shoals First Metro Invitational.

In other tournament action, James Clemens (14-15) also defeated Loretto 2-1 (26-28, 25-21, 15-12), but lost to Addison 2-0 (25-22, 25-16).

Team stat leaders*: Julia Celani (3.0 KPS, 141 K), Diya Patel (2.56 HP, 15 BLK), Emily Klop (3.8 DPS, 179 D, 236 R), Kylie Mills (255 A, 22 SA).

MADISON ACADEMY

The Private Double-A, No. 8 Lady Mustangs (17-11) went 3-2 Saturday at the Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament at Hartselle High School.

Madison Academy opened with a loss to Guntersville 2-1 (19-25, 2520, 15-6), then reeled off wins over Brewer 2-0 , Madison County 2-0 (2512, 25-18) and Northridge 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 15-11).

The Lady Mustangs then lost again to 4A, No. 2 Guntersville 2-0 (25-12, 25-12).

In a Thursday tri-match at home, Madison Academy defeated Madison County 2-0 (25-22, 25-17) and Athens 2-0 (25-18, 27-25).

SPARKMAN

The Lady Senators rode the momentum of a home tri-match sweep early in the week, including a close decision over third-ranked Buckhorn, to win two more matches Thursday.

Sparkman defeated host Lawrence County 2-1 (25-13), 21-25, 1715) and Hamilton 2-0 (25-10, 25-10).

Tuesday against the Lady Bucks, who came to Harvest who had a 12-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 2-0 loss to Jasper, fell again as the upstart Lady Senators took a 16-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 16-14 decision.

Sparkman (10-11) also defeated Grissom 2-1 (21-25, 25-15, 15-13).
