Madison man sentenced to 140 years in prison for child-exploitation crimes

MADISON – A Madison man has been sentenced for child exploitation crimes, U.S. Attorney Phillip W. Williams Jr. announced on Friday.

U.S. District Court Judge Corey L. Maze sentenced Jason Brian Seay, 55, to 140 years in prison. In February, Seay pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the plea agreement, on March 6, 2025, FBI agents obtained a search warrant for Seay’s residence in Madison, Alabama. As a result of the search of Seay’s residence, agents seized more than 20 electronic devices. Examination of those devices revealed more than 500,000 images and videos of child pornography. Agents also discovered images and videos of child pornography that Seay produced.

“This significant 140-year prison sentence demonstrates the seriousness of these crimes and shows unequivocally that there are real consequences for criminal conduct,” said U.S. Attorney Williams. “It is a just result that this defendant will spend the rest of his natural days in prison. The sentence cannot undo the harm that he inflicted on the victims, but it sends a clear message that my office and our law enforcement partners will tirelessly pursue justice and make our communities safe.”

“The depravity and scale of Seay’s crimes are staggering, and today’s sentence ensures he will never again have the opportunity to harm a child,” said David R. Fitzgibbons, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Birmingham. “The FBI will relentlessly pursue anyone who exploits the most vulnerable among us. If you commit these offenses, we will find you, we will uncover the evidence, and you will be brought to justice.”

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit Justice.gov/PSC.

If you suspect or become aware of the possible sexual exploitation of a child, please contact law enforcement. Reports can also be filed with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or online at www.cybertipline.org.

The FBI investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney R. Leann White prosecuted the case.
