New Madison City Schools website fixes frustrations

Madison City Schools has launched its new website (http://www.madisoncity.k12.al.us/)  The new site will facilitate communication through its new look and dynamic interface, said Technology Coordinator Katrina Allen.

“For some time we’ve wanted to have a website for Madison City Schools that would be dynamic and enable our departments and schools to provide instantly “live” information to our stakeholders,” Allen said.

The new website platform allows department heads and school webmasters to update easily and immediately.  Allen said the previous site was more labor intensive for teachers, but now it is easy for teachers to post information.

The new site also features a parent/guardian notification system called Notify Me.  Notify Me will replace ListServ.

“It allows us to offer a texting feature to stakeholders,” Allen said.  “They have the option of receiving texts to their cellphones in addition to, or instead of, email notifications.”

Not only does the new site look better, it allows for easier navigation.  The buttons and tabs are large and colorful, and the hyperlinks respond to hovering.

The site is a go-to place for students at any Madison City school to find resources and contact information.  There is a page that provides a list of teachers and principals, and their emails.  There are also links to each school’s own webpage.

“Each teacher’s page provides a live Email link that, when activated with a click, launches a formatted window the user can simply fill in and submit sending an email to the teacher and, if desired, the principal,” Allen said.

All in all, the new site will provide anyone involved with Madison City Schools with an easy-to-use place to go and communicate.

“We wanted the new website to reflect Madison City Schools’ high standards, wide variety of educational opportunities, and commitment to the mission of giving our kids the best education possible,” Allen said.
