Two burglary suspects still on loose
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Huntsville Police Department and Madison Police Department are currently searching for two suspects in connection with an attempted burglary Tuesday morning.
A homeowner on Matt Phillips Road off Douglas Road in Monrovia reported “multiple people” attempting to break into a neighbor’s home.
By the time police reported to the scene, the assailants had fled in a white suburban.
Public Information Officer Chad Brooks said when officers located the car and tried to perform a traffic stop, the three suspects–said to be African-American males in their 20s–fled on foot in the Slaughter Road area by Columbia High School.
Brooks said items found in the car may relate to a string of other burglaries in the area.
“We’re still very early in the investigation, so that may be speculation,” he said.
