HUNTSVILLE – Tuesday nights just got a little livelier with the start of “Tuesday Evening Concerts” at the downtown branch of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library system.

“The library series returns to the atrium of the downtown Huntsville library on April 21 at 6 p.m.,” library communications director Ann Marie Martin said. Admission is free.

Alexandra Fees will open the 2015 lineup on April 21 with her own brand of pop and classical favorites.

On May 5, SlipJig will perform Gaelic and Irish music. Chenoa Clark is lead vocalist. SlipJip instrumentalists include Mike Clem, guitar, tenor banjo and whistles; Jim Holland, guitar, mandolin and tenor banjo; Al Trotter, flute and whistles; and Phil Williamson, fiddle and bouzouki.

Celtic music and song are the specialties of BlackMarket Haggis on May 19. Band members are Garrett Smith, mandolin and fiddle; Mike Clem, guitar and banjo; and Andy Kruspe, bodhran and melodica.

A festive atmosphere will prevail on June 2 and 16 for “Dancing with the Library Stars” with Huntsville Swing Dance Society. Rocket City Jazz Orchestra will perform big band music for dancing on June 2. For Round II, Moondust Big Band will set the groove on June 16. The audience will vote on their choice for best dancers.

Roland Gresham will entertain with cool jazz guitar and vocals on June 30. Classic rock ‘n roll, along with country sounds, will fill the atrium on July 14 with Highway 64.

On July 28, Huntsville’s In the Mood will return to the sentimental era of big band classics from the 1930s and 1940s. This 18-piece big swing band will play various styles of ballroom dance, including swing, Latin, waltz and foxtrot.

The energetic rhythms of hot Latin music and vocals will be the theme on Aug. 11 with Rocket City Latin Band. Microwave Dave, the venerable hometown favorite, will pump up the best blues classics on Aug. 25.

The downtown library’s address is 915 Monroe St. in Huntsville. For more information, call 256-532-2361.
