Schools plan Curriculum Night

MADISON – Four elementary campuses in Madison already have announced their plans for Curriculum Night.

Curriculum Night dedicates a time slot for teachers to explain the subject matter that a grade level will study during the upcoming school year. Teachers also discuss policies for a particular grade, homework expectations, discipline procedures and possible field trips.

Curriculum Night is intended for parents only.

At Columbia Elementary School, Curriculum Night will open on Aug. 17 for kindergartners in their classrooms. All curriculum nights at Columbia will start at 5 p.m.

On Aug. 18, fifth-grade parents will gather in the library (or 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria). Then on Aug. 18, parents of sixth-graders can attend in the cafeteria.

Columbia’s first-grade parents can attend Curriculum Night on Aug. 25 in classrooms; second grade, Aug. 19, library; third grade, Aug. 20, library; and fourth-grade, Aug. 24, library.

West Madison Elementary School parents can attend Curriculum Night in the library as follows: fifth and sixth grades, Aug. 3, 3 p.m. (these grades meet in gym); second grade; Aug. 24, 5 p.m.; first grade, Aug. 25, 5 p.m.; fourth grade, Aug. 27, 5 p.m.; kindergarten, Aug. 31, 5 p.m.; and third grade, Sept. 1, 5 p.m.

Mill Creek Elementary School parents can attend curriculum nights in the media center from 5 to 6 p.m. On Aug. 13, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten parents can visit. Other scheduled dates are for first grade, Aug. 20; second grade, Aug. 24; grade 3, Aug. 25; third grade, Aug. 25; fourth grade, Aug. 27; fifth grade, Aug. 31; and sixth grade, Sept. 1.

Rainbow Elementary School will offers its first Curriculum Night on Aug. 18 for fourth-grade parents. Rainbow’s curriculum nights all will begin at 5 p.m.

Rainbow’s other scheduled nights are fifth grade on Aug. 19; sixth grade, Aug. 20; kindergarten, Aug. 24; first grade, Aug. 25; second grade, Aug. 26; and third grade, Aug. 27.
