Elementaries plan Curriculum Night

MADISON – Heritage, Horizon and Madison elementary schools have announced their plans for Curriculum Night.

“These 45-minute meetings are intended for parents only,” Heritage Principal Dr. Georgina Nelson said. “Teachers will provide specific information on curriculum, grade-level procedures, homework policies, discipline procedures and tentative field trips.”

All meetings at Heritage will be held in the homeroom teacher’s classroom. Parents of kindergartners can visit on Aug. 18 from 5 to 5:45 p.m. First-grade parents are scheduled for Aug. 20, also from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Parents of second-grade students will attend on Aug. 27 from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

Third-grade parents at Heritage will learn about expectations during Curriculum Night on Aug. 25 from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Parents of fourth-grade students are slated for Aug. 27 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Also at the time slot, fifth-grade parents can visit on Aug. 25 and sixth-grade parents on Aug. 18.

At Horizon, all sessions for Curriculum Night will be held on Aug. 25 and 26. On Aug. 25, parents of kindergarten, first-grade and third-grade students will attend from 5 to 6 p.m. On Aug. 26, parents of children in grades 2, 4, 5 and 6 will visit from 5 to 6 p.m.

“Curriculum Night is a special evening for parents to gain important information concerning your child’s grade-level expectations,” Madison Elementary Principal Melissa Mims said. Parents will attend according to the following schedule:

* Aug. 18 — Third grade, 5 p.m.; fifth grade, 6 p.m.

* Aug. 20 — Second grade, 5 p.m.; fourth grade, 6 p.m.

* Aug. 25 — First grade, 5 p.m.; sixth grade, 6 p.m.

* Aug. 27 — Kindergarten, 5 p.m.; parents of enrichment students at Madison elementary, 6 p.m.
