Local high school indoor track talent excels in Ice Breaker meet events

Local high school indoor track talent excels in Ice Breaker meet events

BIRMINGHAM – The indoor track season is in high gear and among the schedule events is the always exciting and impressive Ice Breaker No. 1 and Ice Breaker No. 2 events on Jan. 4, at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Talent from across the state of Alabama converged onto the Magic City for the huge event, which is normally a precursor for the upcoming AHSAA Indoor Track and Field State Meet scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the same CrossPlex venue.

Local talent showed their athleticism in numerous events at the meet. The AHSAA highlighted several performances of which several were from the local schools in Madison.

GIRLS

ALIVIA URRUTIA, BOB JONES: Won the 400 meters at the Ice Breaker No. 1 with a time of 58.02 seconds.

ERIHANA JOHNSON, JAMES CLEMENS: Clocked 7.62 seconds to win the 60-meter dash at the Ice Breaker No. 2.

TRINITY MILLIGAN, JAMES CLEMENS: Was third in the triple jump at the Ice Breaker No. 2 with a leap of 37 feet, 1 inch.

BOYS

ZATHIAN WEBSTER, BOB JONES: Won the 400 meters at the Ice Breaker No. 1 with a time of 49.34 seconds, and he finished runner-up in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98 seconds.

Both programs are currently gearing up for the State Meet with a great supply of talent ready to hit the indoor track surfaces.
