Blue Apple Books anticipates authors, a songwriter and a bard

MADISON – Blue Apple Books is enjoying a busy April with visits by authors and a songwriter, a ‘punk’ gathering, kudos to the bard and therapeutic art.

“Therapeutic Art Making” on April 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. is designed for anyone at least 16 years old and at any skill level looking to reduce stress and connect with others in a relaxed, safe environment.

A simple art-making process in a small-group setting can help individuals take a pause from the hustle, Dauma said. “We’re not here to create masterpieces, just bear witness to one another’s emotional processing through art.”

Seating is limited. Fee for the art-making workshop is $50. Blue Apple Books will provide all supplies and refreshments. For more information, email contact@shopsouthandpine.com.

Everyone is invited to the “Happy Birthday Shakespeare Party” to celebrate the bard’s 461st birthday “Join us on April 21 for a celebration of all things Shakespeare, co-sponsored by the newly formed Infinite Space HSV, a theater collective,” Dauma said.

Attendees will enjoy performances, readings, costumed performances and Shakespeare-themed games. Tickets are required at $10 each. Ticket purchase includes 10 percent off entire purchases at Blue Apple Books and South & Pine, door prizes and light refreshments. This event is alcohol-free.

On April 22, Dwaynia Wilkerson will present the “Part 1: Discovering Your Brand Voice” workshop. Wilkerson is founder of “Prose and Pens” (proseandpens.com).

From 6 to 7 p.m., participants can gain insight into how written content can help boost brand credibility, to write with authority and identify content that makes the most impact with an audience.

Wilkerson’s work has been seen on Ulta and Amazon websites, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), POPSUGAR and “Good Morning, America.”

April 24 will entail a double-dip treat with two scheduled events.

After a singalong/read-along visit with youngsters at Madison Elementary School, Nashville author and songwriter Carter Hamric will appear at Blue Apple on April 24. Hamric started his “Big Ole Day” book series after his son’s first visit to the beach. He composes a song to accompany each of his ‘travel’ books.

“We’re lucky that Carter also has time to stop at Blue Apple Books to do reading, signing and singing,” Dauma said. “Join us for a ‘Big Ole Fun Time’ from 3:30 to 5 p.m.”

Next on April 24, “Steampunk Soiree” will serve as the kickoff event for North Alabama Steampunk Society. The soiree time will be 6 to 8 p.m.

Costumes are optional but encouraged. Ticket price of $10 includes snacks and a 10-percent discount. This event is alcohol-free.

In addition, after the “Sunrise Release Party,” copies of Suzanne Collins’ novel in “The Hunger Games” series are available now at the bookstore.

The bookstore’s address is 14 Main St., Suite B in Madison. For more information, visit Facebook/Blue Apple Books store, blueapplebookstore.com or shopsouthandpine.com.
