Erica White elected to represent District 6 on Madison City Council

MADISON – The final piece of Madison’s new city council puzzle was placed Tuesday night. Erica White won the runoff election for District 6, defeating Scott Harbour by 297 votes. White had 751 votes to Harbour’s 454. Both candidates are newcomers to city elections. Incumbent Karen Denzine was ousted in the Aug. 26 general election.

The turnout for Tuesday’s election remained small, closely mirroring the general election, at 17.73%

The new city council will take office on Nov. 3. Madison will have only one returning elected official, District 1’s Maura Wroblewski. The city will also have a new mayor after Ranae Bartlett won the position in the general election. She will replace Paul Finley, who decided not to run for reelection.

Erica White has previously served as Court Appointed Juvenile Advocate, Direct Care Hospice Volunteer, and an Adult Education Tutor and is owner of Kean Landscaping Service and Rocket Sleeps.

White’s campaign emphasized roads, infrastructure, managing growth, and first responder support.

“My neighborhood is filled with both long-term residents who’ve raised several generations in the area, as well as newcomers who are just discovering how special Madison is,” said White during the campaign. “I want to work to preserve the greatness that has drawn so many people to this city. I want to support the inevitable growth in a thoughtful way.”
